Behind the Lens speaks to Peli Products about its Peli Air Case range which has recently been expanded with the launch of three new deeper cases. The cases offer users more versatility, portability and durability, in special for OEM needs and industrial use.

Peli Products is the UK distributor of many of the leading brands of cases, torches and area lighting. Can you tell me more about the company and how long it has been established?
Peli Products (UK) distributes the Peli brand of protective cases, high quality torches and area lighting products. The company has been established for over 27 years and is still in the same ownership, having grown hugely during that time.

What is the difference between Peli Products and Pelican Products?
Peli is the European brand name, for legal reasons we can’t use “Pelican” in Europe however the products all feature the same high quality design and manufacturing standards.

What is a Peli case and what are they made from?
Peli Cases are crushproof and dustproof equipment protection cases. Their rugged dependability makes them ideal for the most challenging and hostile conditions throughout the world.
Peli Protector cases are manufactured from Copolymer Polypropylene, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, ensuring maximum strength and durability. This is the largest range of Peli cases.
Peli Storm Cases are made from a lightweight, strong HPX® resin and feature press and pull latches which open easily at the press of a button.
Peli Air cases are are lighter in weight and moulded from the next generation of Peli’s lightweight HPX® resin.

Many professionals in the industry only use Peli Products because of their high quality. However, what if something goes wrong, does the company offer a guarantee or warranty on products?
All Peli cases are covered by the legendary lifetime guarantee. Steffan Hewitt, Director of Polecam, has used Peli cases for more than 20 years. “Peli is an internationally recognised brand and product. The worldwide warranty offers unrivalled back-up and support. We have first-hand knowledge that if anything on the Peli case is broken in transit, it is replaced with no quibbles. For a jobbing cameraman that level of support is second to none. Wherever you are in the world, the Peli case does the job.”

What have been the most recent developments in the Peli Range?
The Peli Air Case range has been expanded with the launch of three new deeper cases; all engineered to maintain the same level of durability, but reduce the weight of each case by up to 40 percent. The new models 1557, 1607 and 1637 are available with several interior options: Case No Foam, with Pick N Pluck™ foam, with Padded Dividers and with TrekPak™ system. The new 1607 and 1637 also feature wheels for easy transportation of heavier loads.
Another addition to the Air range is the 1745 case; designed for long equipment, such as tripods. The 1745 case features press and pull latches to keep the lid firmly closed during transit but to open easily on arrival. Stainless steel bearing wheels are built in for easy transportation of heavier loads. This model is 1118mm long x 426mm wide and 206mm deep (internal measurements) and is available with Pick n Pluck™ foam for protection against impact, vibration and shock.
